Feedback – TPNW Zoom meeting 5th November 2020

I think it was another great, thought provoking session, which was well worth attending.  All speakers were great and created a lively and interesting debate.

In terms of the content, I guess the views from Chis Connolly resonated most with me, and I found his insights relating to the Pension Dashboard very useful and interesting.  In fact, it would be good to hear more about the Dashboard, and maybe to get Chris Curry back again at some point?_________________________________________________

Just a few other thoughts:

  • Really good set of differing views, highlighting contrasting drivers for pension e-enablement.
  • Sam and Chris are seasoned performers; Georgina could have brought her message into focus a little more.
  • Worth revisiting the topic maybe in late 2022, when the Pensions Dashboard Programme should be onboarding ‘pioneer’ schemes.
  • As I’ve mentioned before, I think you’ve found the sweet spot for this kind of digital engagement: single topic; enough time to let the discussion develop; but not so long that screen weariness sets in. I’ve ‘been to’ a couple of digital versions of annual conferences this year, where hours of material were delivered on each of four or five days; and that was literally painful. Little and often is definitely the way to go.

I had IT issues so I only saw the first two sessions.

I find the digital development sessions the most interesting, more so than the ones we have about advice. (I am biased as I hear about advice all day and everyday)

I thought Sam and Georgia were excellent, it’s always really useful to see what’s being developed for future use in the industry.

The good part about Sam’s session was she talked about this as a concept to the group a few years ago so it’s nice to see how it’s actually developed on.

Maybe get Georgia to come back in a couple of years to show how they have developed.

Thanks

Another excellent session, as always, and all 3 were really good. Very interesting to hear from Sam how the banks were so opposed to open banking even though it’s much easier for them than it is for pensions. I particularly enjoyed Georgia’s section – bringing shareholder democracy to people invested in funds, brilliant! Some great anecdotes from Chris on the aging addresses, Nationwide’s 3 years of “can’t” followed by “can” in 2 weeks (re the call centres). Lots more besides but hopefully you get the idea I enjoyed it and found it useful and thought-provoking.

Hopefully you heard from one or two of my colleagues re the TWIN meeting. “Green for Go” sounds like it’s up another colleague’s street,  so I’ll pass it on to her. As an aside, it’s nice to see more women speaking at and attending the virtual events.
